Leading the Way in Eco-Friendly, Perc-Free Dry Cleaning
Your Health and Environment Come First at Zebra Cleaners
In recent news, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a federal ban on perchloroethylene, commonly known as “perc.” This chemical has been the standard in the dry cleaning industry for decades, but it is now being phased out due to its significant negative impacts on human health and the environment.
At Zebra Cleaners, this news doesn’t change how we do business—it simply confirms why we made the switch to safer alternatives years ago. We are proud to reassure our customers that we are 100% perc-free and have been for a long time.
What is Perc, and Why is a Ban Important?
Perc is a synthetic chemical solvent used to remove stains from fabrics. While effective at cleaning, it is classified as a known health hazard and a groundwater contaminant. Prolonged exposure can affect the nervous system and has been linked to long-term health risks.
By choosing a perc-free dry cleaner, you are ensuring that no harsh chemical residues are left on your clothes or released into the Lexington and Irmo communities.
The Zebra Cleaners Difference: Earth-Friendly Excellence
